Academics

We provide a comprehensive American Diploma program from KG1 through Grade 12, rooted in Common Core State Standards (CCSS) across all subjects and guided by the Virginia State Standards in English Social Studies.

The curriculum is designed to build strong academic foundations, critical thinking skills, and college and career readiness.

Assessments & Exams

We assess the students along different grade levels through various types of assessments.

  • Formative assessments: Quizzes, tests, exit tickets
  • Summative assessments: Quarter exams, projects.
  • Quarterly projects.
  • MAP Test for Grades 1 through 10

Learning Support

We provide targeted support classes for students who need additional help in meeting grade-level expectations. These sessions are designed to reinforce core skills, address learning gaps, and build confidence through personalized instruction. Within the regular classroom, differentiated teaching strategies are used to meet diverse learning needs. This includes modifying content, process, or output based on students’ readiness levels, learning profiles, and interests to ensure that every student is supported and appropriately challenged.

Age & Grade Placement

Early Years (Foundation)

Our Early Years program lays the essential groundwork for a lifetime of learning. Through a play-based, inquiry-led approach, young children develop foundational skills in communication, literacy, numeracy, and personal and social development. We provide a warm, nurturing environment where curiosity and creativity are encouraged, and every child feels secure and valued as they take their first steps in education.

In the Primary Stage, students build strong foundations in core subjects such as English, mathematics, science, and humanities. Our broad and balanced curriculum fosters curiosity, problem-solving, and critical thinking through hands-on and inquiry-based learning. We aim to develop confident, independent learners who love to explore new ideas and feel supported every step of the way.

The Lower Secondary Stage broadens students’ academic horizons across a wide range of subjects, following a framework aligned with British international standards. Learners strengthen their analytical, creative, and problem-solving skills while developing greater independence. Our holistic approach nurtures both academic progress and personal growth, helping students become well-rounded and ready for upper secondary education.

In Upper Secondary, students follow a rigorous academic program aligned with international standards, typically preparing for qualifications equivalent to the British IGCSEs. They have the opportunity to select subjects that match their interests and goals. This stage emphasizes independent learning, research, and critical thinking, ensuring students are well-prepared for advanced studies.

The Advanced Stage offers a curriculum aligned with British AS & A Level standards, providing in-depth subject knowledge and high-level skills for university and future careers. Students specialize in subjects that reflect their aspirations, with a strong focus on independent learning, leadership, and global awareness. With personalized guidance from experienced teachers, Mavericks graduates are well-prepared to excel in higher education and beyond.
